Understanding Italy: An exploration of history, food, cultural heritage and current issues through contemporary Italian cinema

Thursday, April 18, 2019 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Lake Oswego Public Library, 706 Fourth Street, Lake Oswego OR 97034. Using the themes of the movies of the Italian Film Festival (link is external), Professor Zagarella will discuss topics, changes and challenges facing Italy society today.

Professor Zagarella is the Language Courses Coordinator at Portland State University and teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced Italian. Her areas of interests are language teaching pedagogy, Italian culture and civilization, contemporary literature and Mediterranean Studies. Her current research focuses on literature of migration and national identity in Italian and Italophone literature.
