The West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival (WVIHF) has named Steptoe & Johnson attorney Sharon Flanery Italian-American Woman of the Year. Flanery is one of four WVIHF honorees for 2013 and will be recognized at the WVIHF dinner in Bridgeport on Aug. 29.

Flanery maintains a busy legal practice while also leading the Steptoe & Johnson Energy and Natural Resources Department. Before earning her law degree Flanery was a petroleum engineer, which adds real world experience to her legal practice. Her legal expertise includes acquisitions and divestitures, mineral leases, joint ventures, contract mining agreements, joint operating agreements as well as land and legal due diligence.
