The Sons of Italy hosted the Special Olympics Bocce Tournament in Bellaire Saturday, Belmont County -- Tuscarawas County -- and Carroll County all had teams that came out to play, in addition to some Unified teams. After having to take a year off because of the pandemic, the athletes and organizers alike were excited to get together again -- and play some bocce.
Special Olympics Ohio Regional Director Libby Schafer said, "It is everything, them being able to be with their friends and being back out socializing, interacting, being physical -- it means the world to them. I'm just so happy that we're beginning to get back to normal and be back out."
