POSITION: Camera/Editor (Broadcast Associate)

DESCRIPTION: The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of Queens College/CUNY seeks applications for the position of Broadcast Associate, who will report to the Dean and work closely with the Producer of the TV program, ITALICS. This a 32-hour per week position.

DUTIES:
Camera Operation: remotes, in-house, both with producer (who also serves as on-camera correspondent) and unsupervised; some studio shoots.
Post-Production: editing: log & transfer, rough cuts; editing promos, short-form videos, YouTube videos; export to Quicktime; upload to FTP/delivery to CUNY TV for broadcast, create DVDs, and related tasks.
Research: information and supplemental footage/still photos for final edit; events and happenings in the community; potential guest appearances.
Manage written correspondence and provide CUNY-TV with show info, in professional English.
Perform other related duties appropriately assigned by the Dean or Producer, in all aspects of production and post-production.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BFA, MA, MFA or the equivalent from an accredited college in a related field and three years of shooting and editing for television, preferably news magazine format.
Strong working knowledge of Final Cut Pro 7 required.
Strong television production skills required.
Strong working experience with lighting required.
Strong knowledge of technical aspects of television production required.
Strong working knowledge of camera, lighting, & audio equipment required.
Strong English-language writing and oral communication skills required.
Will require working some evenings; occasional weekends, overnights, civil holidays.
Experience with Motion a plus.
Knowledge of Italian-American Studies and Italian-American community preferred; knowledge of written and spoken Italian language preferred.
Hard worker, motivated, organized and enthusiastic.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
