It's showtime for Gucci at Bloomingdale's 59th Street. As reported in wwd, from June 6 to 9, seven Gucci artisans will be at the Bloomingdale's flagship assembling handbags, personalizing silk scarves and monogramming leather bags.
Gucci's "artisan corner," said Francine Klein, Bloomingdale's executive vice president and general merchandise manager of fashion accessories, "will bring this unique and time-honored craftsmanship to customers outside of the house's own store for the first time." The artisans will be working on several of Gucci's most popular items, including the Flora scarf worn by Princess Grace and the New Bamboo, Soft Stirrup and Soho bags, as well as the New Jackie style inspired by a Sixties bag that Jackie Kennedy Onassis popularized. Handbags will feature special plaques bearing the location and date. The event will be held in Gucci's women's accessories boutique on the Lexington Avenue side of the store.
