An official from Marathon's sister city might travel to the Middle Keys in March as a follow-up to a Marathon contingent's trip to that city this month. The sister city, endorsed by the Marathon City Council in April but basically a Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce program, is Loiri Porto San Paolo in the Sardinia region of Italy.
On Sept. 15, Mayor Chris Bull, chamber President Daniel Samess, Realtor Kyle Samess and chamber board member Julie Johnson landed in Sardinia Sept. 15. Bull and Kyle Samess paid their own way expenses for the trip, which ranged between $1,500 to $1,800 in airfare. The chamber picked up the tab for Daniel Samess and Johnson.
