Wine, Food & Opera Lovers Rejoice!
The Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere is proud to present Vino & Verdi - an Italian food and wine tasting featuring favorite wines of the Emilia Romagna Region of Italy with a special video presentation by music and opera educator Lou Barella featuring the region's favorite son, world renowned composer Giuseppe Verdi, and his operatic drinking songs.
This presentation will feature scenes from seven Verdi Operas in which the drinking of wine or its effects are highlighted. Verdi's creative genius is revealed through the masterful way in which he portrays the lyric and sometimes very dramatic effect of his characters' inebriation. Come and drink Verdi's music!
Among Italian wine-growing regions, Emilia-Romagna is noted for the diversity and individual personalities of its wines. Emilia is associated principally with Lambrusco, a sparkling, red made from grapes grown on high trellised vines in the provinces of Modena, and Reggio Emilia.
Dubbed "Italy's Food Basket," Emilia-Romagna is home to many of the country's most renowned foods: Prosciutto di Parma, Mortadella, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and balsamic vinegar to name a few.
