The Order Sons of Italy in America, Quattro Eroi Lodge No. 1414, ended the 2016-17 year with multiple activities. These activities included a lecture by James Johnston on the immigration of Italians to Franklin; the installation of lodge officers; the recognition of Alesandro (Alex) Pizzi with the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts Law Enforcement Award; the annual Pancake Breakfast; and an end-of-the-year meeting/luncheon in June.
The March meeting of the Quattro Eroi Lodge was held at the Franklin Cable TV station and featured a talk by local scholar and historian James Johnston, who spoke about the immigration of Italians to Franklin. He placed the stories of local Franklin Italian families within the larger context of Italian immigrations to Canada, Australia and Brazil. It was an informative presentation and was enjoyed by lodge members and interested community residents. The Lodge thanked Franklin TV for use of its station for this community-focused meeting.
