Giovanna Parnoff of Old Lyme was recently awarded the Bronze Level of membership in the Junior Mensa Honor Society. She has reached a cumulative total of 82 hours of community service since being admitted to the honor society in 2017. Currently a seventh grade student at The Hopkins School in New Haven, Giovanna last year maintained high honors and a 4.15 grade point average.
She earned her service hours through her work as a volunteer Italian language tutor with IACE (Italian American Committee on Education) as well as her involvement in graveyard cleanup as part of the local Children of the American Revolution group. Giovanna is a pianist, the inaugural winner of the Musical Masterworks/Community Music School merit scholarship, a competitive foil fencer and book reviewer for the Mensa Book Parade.
