Lifelong Cañon City resident and businessman Mario DiNardo died unexpectedly Wednesday at the age of 87. DiNardo had just recovered from pneumonia when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Mario and his twin brother, Albert DiNardo, have spent time together nearly every day of their lives.Longtime family friend Heidi Willard said the twins were "joined at the hip." She described Mario as a nice, generous man who loved people.
"I miss him sitting behind the counter in his chair," she said. "We had really good times, too; he loved to go shopping with me for clothes and shoes." The brothers were born in Cañon City in May 1929, Albert being older by 18 minutes. The only way he will be able to get out of bed and continue each morning without his twin will be through his faith, hope and trust in God, Albert said. He said he will miss "everything" about his brother, but he has 87 years worth of memories that still make him smile.
