Friar Alessandro is coming to St. Louis to perform at the Cathedral Basilica on Friday, May 12, 2017. He was born in Assisi and he is an Italian Franciscan friar. At the age of 21, he joined the Franciscan order at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi. For years he worked as carpenter for the Franciscans. As he sang in choir, his superiors noticed his beautiful tenor voice.
While in Assisi, a record producer, Mike Hodges, heard him sing and signed him to produce an album. He is the first religious brother to be awarded a record contract from a major record label. He traveled to London to record his first album at Abbey Roads Studios. He does not receive any compensation from his albums or concerts. All the money is given to the Order of Friars Minor in Assisi.
