Primo’s founder raised family of entrepreneurs

Marino Soave escaped life in war-torn Italy to pursue the American Dream.

He came to Detroit with family values, work ethic and determination. That was a foundation for a family that would develop many new homes and businesses in and around Livonia – including Primo's Pizza, one of the city's legendary eateries.

Mr. Soave died Saturday from congestive heart failure at age 96. "He always told us that if you want something in life, you got to go and work for it," said Dominic Soave Sr., Marino's youngest son and operator of Primo's Pizza.
