The Pat and Virginia Gringer Palermo family of Batavia is the unanimous choice as 2015 inductee into the Paolo Busti Cultural Foundation's Hall of Fame of Outstanding Italian-Americans. The selection was announced Thursday by Michele Fuller, president of the foundation's board of directors.
The family will be honored at a celebration dinner on Oct. 14. The Palermos' "gracious courage, commitment to community and overwhelming support" are among the reasons for their selection, Fuller said. The foundation provided the following family history: The Palermo family can trace its roots to Rialmonte, Sicily, where Patsy Palermo's father lived before he came to America.
