Bloomfield Unico, an Italian-American group, honored elementary school students in the Columbus Day Essay Contest.
Paul Alongi, along with other Unico executive board members, presented the awards on the Bloomfield Green in front of the Christopher Columbus statue. Mayor Raymond McCarthy and Essex County Freeholder Brendan Gill addressed the students. Unico members treated all to a pancake breakfast at the Civic Center.
