Sicilian festival brings out nostalgia

Margaret Balistreri Cesarini was just a teenager when she moved from Sicily to San Diego around 50 years ago. She's been back to her home country about 15 times since then. The trips are an experience that leave her with mixed feelings. "I'm torn between two lovers — I'm an American citizen but I was born in Italy," she said. "I'm happy here and when I go over there I'm happy over there."

On Sunday, Balistreri Cesarini didn't have to feel conflicted. She and thousands of others converged on Little Italy for the 20th annual Sicilian Festival. India Street turned into a taste of Sicily, with a parade of musicians playing the Southern Italian song, Tarantella.
