While many San Franciscans have noted the glorious bust of renowned Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi in Golden Gate Park, most aren't aware of the Verdi Club, an event space, social club and cornerstone of the Italian community in San Francisco.
It just so happens that this venerable institution celebrated its 100th birthday the other day to much fanfare. I had the great honor of attending and joining many wonderful guests such as Jack Hidalgo (next to me in the pic below) and San Francisco Supervisor Malia Cohen (center).
