The Italian Heritage Society of the Monterey Peninsula recently released their new book "Italian Fishing Families of Monterey", a work that is written by fishermen, their families and friends. The purpose of the 302-page book is to preserve the history of the Italian fishing community of Monterey. Impressively, the Italian Heritage Society has collected 75 stories and bios with photos rich in history.
The stories are of courage and hardship, determination and hard work, and love of family and the sea. As the stories started coming in and were shared with the Italian Heritage Society members, they were met with tears, laughter and pride in a shared Italian heritage. If you're interested in acquiring this historical text, you can pre-order the book before October 15th.
