A wreath of pink flowers floated away from Fisherman's Wharf on Saturday, in silent homage to the fishermen and their families who shaped an industry and carved new lives in a new world.
The wreath was tossed into the water by Festa Italia Queen Gina Pennisi, after her father, Mario, read the names of local fishermen lost at sea. Mario Pennisi's brother, David "Rowdy" Pennisi, and crewman Michael Odom died at sea off Half Moon Bay in June 2004, possibly because their boat was run over by a South Korean tanker.
