
Washington Concert Opera will celebrate at the Embassy of Italy its 26th season with a festive Gala on Monday, March 18, 2013. The event will be under the patronage of the Ambassador of Italy Claudio Bisogniero and Mrs. Laura Denise Bisogniero, and it is part of the program of 2013 – Year of the Italian Culture in the US. Three hundred guests from the arts, corporate, diplomatic and philanthropic communities are expected to attend.
The event will begin at 6:30 pm. A musical program of Italian opera arias will feature renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee and guest artists. Dr. Gerald Perman, vocal arts benefactor and founder of Vocal Arts DC will be honored for his dedication to the vocal arts and his significant contribution to the cultural life of Washington, D.C.
Michael Higgins and Wendy W. Makins are Gala Co-Chairs. Major sponsorship for the gala is provided by Dorothy and Kenneth Woodcock, U.S. Trust, Harlow Case and James A. Riedy. Proceeds from the Gala will directly benefit Washington Concert Opera's public performances and programs.
