Feb. 17 wasn’t just any Tuesday. At Bainbridge City Hall, it was officially “Greta Zuccaro Day.” Zuccaro — an Italian exchange student attending Bainbridge High School — became the first swimming state champion in school history after competing at the Georgia High School Association Swimming and Diving State Championship earlier this month.
She took home the gold in the 100-yard breaststroke and earned third place in the 200-yard individual medley. “God love her, she doesn’t just swim,” Councilwoman Rosyln Palmer said, “but she just swam to victory for the Bearcats.”
