Italian food brings people together – and an upcoming gathering in Washington, DC, will explore how that connection can support stronger business relationships across the Atlantic.
On Wednesday, November 18, 2026, the Embassy of Italy will host “Transatlantic Trade for Mutual Growth: Opportunities of the Italy-U.S. Agri-Food Partnership.” Scheduled for 5:00–6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the presentation will take place at the embassy, 3000 Whitehaven Street NW, Washington, DC 20008. Advance registration is required.
The program centers on the new CREA report examining Italy’s international agricultural and food trade. CREA, Italy’s Council for Agricultural Research and Economics, studies the sector’s competitiveness and changing market conditions, providing knowledge that can help businesses identify opportunities abroad.
The Washington discussion will focus on Italian agri-food exports to the United States and prospects for closer cooperation between the two markets. It offers a setting for connecting research with commercial experience, helping participants consider how Italy’s food heritage can translate into lasting partnerships.
The initiative brings together the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Trade Agency, AmCham Italy, and OpportunItaly. Their collaboration connects diplomatic outreach, business networks, and trade promotion around a shared goal: creating opportunities for mutual growth.
The gathering also forms part of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, linking the international appreciation of Italian cooking with the producers and businesses behind it.
Following the one-hour presentation, participants and industry professionals will be offered an Italian aperitivo, providing an informal opportunity to continue conversations and make connections.
For Italian American entrepreneurs, importers, and food professionals, the event offers a timely perspective on the relationship between culinary identity and international commerce. By bringing market analysis and business dialogue together, Washington’s gathering will highlight practical opportunities to strengthen the food connections that already unite Italy and the United States.
