Italy’s real estate market is attracting growing international attention, driven by three powerful trends – the expansion of short-term rentals, increasing demand for luxury properties, and new opportunities for professionals who can work remotely. Together, these developments highlight the country’s appeal as a destination for tourism, investment, and relocation.
According to the Italian Association of Short-Term Rental Managers (AIGAB), the short-term rental sector generated an estimated €51.7 billion in economic activity during the first nine months of 2026, approximately $60 billion. Direct bookings reached €10.1 billion, up 19% from the corresponding period in 2025, while related economic activity increased 23%, reaching €40.6 billion.
