In the case of Frank Rizzo, out of sight does not always mean out of mind. The former mayor and police commissioner died 35 years ago. A 10-foot bronze statue reminded Philadelphians of his presence for decades, until civil rights protests in 2020 culminated in the monument’s removal from public display.
It might have lost its prime spot outside the Municipal Services Building, across from City Hall.
