The Big Apple Film Festival returns to New York – An Italian director competes with an experimental film

The prestigious New York independent festival – known for featuring works that later made their way to the Oscars – is back for its 2025 edition, celebrating independent cinema from around the world. The event is dedicated to promoting original voices and productions that emphasize innovation and global impact.

Among the selected films is Final Broadcast, directed by the only Italian filmmaker in competition, Davide Ippolito. The film also marks the first production by the Italian American company N41 Studios, founded by Ippolito and Emanuele Scamardella, who serve as executive producers along with Simone D’Andria, in collaboration with LuckyHorn Entertainment.

Experimental and bold in concept, Final Broadcast evokes the stripped-down, claustrophobic style of The Blair Witch Project, blending real-time storytelling, television language, and an apocalyptic setting to explore major themes such as nuclear escalation, environmental crisis, media sensationalism, and the manipulation of truth. It’s a film designed to spark debate and encourage collective reflection on the power of media and the ethical responsibility of communication in times of global crisis.

Although American-made, Final Broadcast stands out for its strong Italian creative contribution, featuring renowned artists who have built their careers in the United States. The soundtrack is composed by Davide Pannozzo, the internationally acclaimed Italian blues guitarist and composer known in the U.S. for his collaborations with top artists and his innovative style. Among the lead actors is Jacopo Rampini, an Italian performer active in American theater, film, and television.

The film’s poster is designed by world-famous visual artist Emiliano Ponzi, while the soundtrack’s audio mix is handled by Marc Urselli, a three-time Grammy Award winner, featuring drums by the legendary Steve Ferrone.

The closing credits song, also titled Final Broadcast, is performed by singer-songwriter Cristiano Cosa and appears on his debut album Cosa Sono Io, produced by LuckyHorn Entertainment.

The New York premiere of Final Broadcast at the Big Apple Film Festival marks the international debut of the film – bringing an Italian director to the forefront of one of America’s most important independent film events. The film’s worldwide release is scheduled for early 2026.
