A Support Committee has been formed to back the nomination of the Art of Italian Shoemaking for inscription on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The initiative seeks to recognize and safeguard the craftsmanship, techniques and knowledge passed down through generations in Italy's shoemaking tradition.
The Committee is chaired by Giovanni Bozzetti, president of Fondazione Fiera Milano, highlighting the connection between the nomination and major fashion trade events held in Milan. Organizers emphasize that the bid is not about a single product but about the people, skills and production methods that constitute a living cultural heritage.
