Italy is standing on the brink of a major infrastructure transformation. New studies suggest that by integrating artificial intelligence, IoT sensors, 5G connectivity, robotics and drones, the country’s backbone – its roads, bridges, water systems, energy grids and public works – can be turned into smart, efficient networks built for the 21st century.
The potential benefits are massive, with projected savings of more than €54 billion over the lifetime of newly built and upgraded critical infrastructure between 2026 and 2030.
