Italian companies looking to expand in the United States now have a new resource on American soil. SIMEST has opened a New York office designed to provide direct support to Italian businesses entering, investing in and expanding across one of the world's largest and most competitive markets.
The office, inaugurated September 21, is located within the Italian Trade Agency headquarters in Manhattan. Its mission is particularly focused on small and medium-sized companies, combining financing, market expertise and on-the-ground assistance.
The numbers demonstrate the scale of Italian interest in the United States. A dedicated €500 million SIMEST program launched for companies operating in the American market has already received approximately 400 financing applications worth €260 million.
That comes on top of more than 500 subsidized financing operations in recent years totaling €214 million. SIMEST has also supported 84 export credit transactions worth approximately €560 million, while its equity investment portfolio involving Italian companies and their U.S. joint ventures has reached about €1 billion.
The new office arrives as economic ties between Italy and the United States continue to reach significant levels. In 2025, bilateral trade reached a record €105 billion, while Italian exports to the U.S. approached €70 billion after increasing by more than 7%.
New York becomes the latest addition to SIMEST's expanding international network. Since 2023, the organization has established offices in Belgrade, Cairo, Ho Chi Minh City, São Paulo, Rabat, Dakar and Riyadh.
For Italian companies, the Manhattan presence creates a direct bridge to financing and expertise – helping Made in Italy businesses turn American opportunities into long-term growth.
