This renovated school bus rolls with authentic Italian fare around Genesee County

By: Isis Simpson-Mersha

Many have heard of or even eaten from a food truck, but few have had the opportunity to grab fresh authentic Italian food from a school bus. “We wanted to be unique and different,” Zachery Bastianelli, co-owner of the new Bastianelli’s Italian Mercato food bus, told MLive-The Flint Journal.

Bastianelli co-owns and operates the bus, which had a grand opening earlier this month, with his girlfriend, LaRissa Byrd. The couple, who both grew up on farms and have a passion for cooking and baking, purchased the bus over a year ago and recently got it on the road to roll through Genesee County, serving fresh, hot authentic Italian food.
