Relics of St. Francis of Assisi are on display at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco, marking the first time the collection has traveled outside Italy.
The exhibit, unveiled Wednesday, features several paintings and other religious artifacts, including an item containing the saint's blood. Organizers say the display commemorates nearly 800 years of Franciscan history and highlights the connection between San Francisco and its namesake saint.
