Rapid City (SD) breaks ground on Bocce Complex addition

By: Hannah Hutter

Bocce ball is a growing sport across the nation, including Rapid City. Tuesday, there was a groundbreaking ceremony at the Rapid City Bocce Complex to usher in the expansion from an eight-court facility to 16. The facility sees players of all ages coming to play the sport, but with the new expansion it will now forever be home to the South Dakota Special Olympics state bocce tournament.

The expansion project is made possible through Rapid City Vision Funds and donations made by former NASCAR racer Rusty Wallace and Buffalo Chip founder Rod Woodruff through their charity rides, which started over a decade ago to benefit Special Olympics South Dakota.
