Pompeii Victim Found Holding 'Medical Kit' Was Likely a Doctor, New Research Suggests

One of the victims killed when Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried the city of Pompeii almost 2,000 years ago may have been a doctor, according to scientists. 

Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., and most of the ancient Roman city's residents died from asphyxiation caused by the inhalation of toxic ash and thermal shock within 24 hours, per U.K. outlet The Independent.
