Paying homage at Italian American Museum of LA to history, friendship

The Italian American Museum of Los Angeles, with the meaningful acronym IAMLA, tells the story of the immigrant community’s Southern California presence, smaller than in New York or New Jersey, say, but large and influential nevertheless. I was at the museum one afternoon last week on what felt like a personal mission.

Jeannette Vagnozzi of Rancho Cucamonga had told me a year ago that she’d visited the museum and encountered among the exhibits a couple of references to the founder of Guasti, the onetime grape-growing and winemaking village in today’s Ontario.
