Even in a year unusually rich with substantial film roles for actors and actresses well beyond a certain age, Paolo Sorrentino's "Youth" stands alone: an operatic, visually audacious meditation on aging, art, and mortality.
The English-language "Youth," opening here on Friday, is Sorrentino's follow-up to last year's best foreign film Oscar winner, "The Great Beauty." The films share most of the director's creative team and his recurring themes.
