Americans know Giovanni da Verrazzano largely through his name’s commemoration on the suspension bridge that connects the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island across Lower New York Bay. Deeper insights about Verrazzano’s life in Tuscany and leadership as an explorer to the ‘New World’ will be presented through a panel discussion titled “A Florentine at the Service of the King of France, a Gentleman Navigator, a Noble Endeavour.”
This presentation will take place at the downtown Wilmington campus of Delaware Technical and Community College on Oct. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and a reception follows the presentations. Those interesting in attendance must RSVP via email ([email protected]) prior to the event.
