Italy continues to dominate the global olive oil industry, confirming its reputation as one of the world’s leading producers of premium extra virgin olive oil. At the 2026 edition of the New York International Olive Oil Competition – widely considered the most prestigious olive oil contest in the world – Italian producers earned 166 awards, more than any other country participating in the competition.
The results once again highlighted the extraordinary depth and consistency of Italian olive oil production. Italy entered the competition with 210 submissions and achieved one of the highest success rates among major producing nations.
