Venice is one of the most visited cities in the world, and also one of the most misunderstood. Beneath the gondola rides and souvenir stalls, there’s a real city — one where 40,000 people buy groceries, take the vaporetto to work and go about their daily lives. Alvise D’Alpaos, an artisan in Venice, is one of them.
Born and raised in Venice, Alvise launched bottegaD3sign three years ago as a new venture after the pandemic — a small workshop tucked into a calle near the Rialto Bridge, right in the middle of all the action, but easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there.
