The transformation of downtown Portland's formerly decrepit west end into a bustling shopping and dining district seems to be creeping south. Marmo Deli and Bar, which took over a former Big Town Hero a block from Central Library, implies it has made it to Southwest Morrison Street.
The new cafe, owned by a former operations manager for the ChefStable restaurant group, offers a menu of light Italian salads and sandwiches, created by former Bluehour chef Thomas Boyce, mostly served cold in a setting so sleek it borders on severity.
