Lido Civic Club Donates $25K to Charities at October Meeting

By: Joseph Barone

The Lido Civic Club of Washington DC distributed $25,000 in donations to local charities at our General Membership Meeting on October 16, 2026.

Each of the following organizations received a check for $5,000:

·        Catholic University of America – Rome School of Performing Arts – Symphony Orchestra (Washington DC)

·        Cloverleaf Equine Center (Clifton, VA).  The center believes that “therapeutic horseback riding, equine-assisted learning, physical and psychotherapy incorporating horses, or other equine-assisted services can be the key to finding a path and thriving.”

·        March of Dimes (Fairfax County, VA): The organization is “committed to ending preventable maternal health risks and death and ending preventable preterm birth and infant deaths.”

·        Ryan Bartel Foundation (Waterford, VA).  The foundation “focuses on prevention — helping teens build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop healthy coping skills before challenges escalate.”

·        Storybook Treasures (Ashburn, VA).  This is “a PK - 5th grade school-based literacy program that builds confidence and a love of reading in all students. Each student receives a book to read and take home, and teachers receive full lesson plans and kits!”

All donations are made via the Lido Civic Club Charities, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable foundation. The Civic Committee, under the leadership of Chairman Vito Germinario, evaluates all requests for Civic and Charitable grants. All applicants for grants must complete our online application form.
