Residents in Jefferson County gathered this weekend to celebrate Italian heritage during an event hosted by the Jefferson County Historical Association. On Sunday, the association held Echoes of the Ohio Valley, drawing attendees to the museum’s Italian Room. Guests packed the space to share stories about their families’ Italian immigrant roots and to celebrate traditions organizers said helped shape the Ohio Valley. Local Ohio Valley restaurants provided Italian food for the event.
“We're just excited that we've been doing this project for about a year and a half now. And to see the fruits of our labors is wonderful, and we're hoping that everybody enjoys it that we can continue gathering stories from people that have stories to te,” said Joan McGlowne, treasurer of the Jefferson County Historical Association.
