Italy is strengthening its position as one of Europe’s leaders in the circular economy, with the country’s wood recycling sector approaching a 70% recycling rate and continuing to expand its environmental and industrial impact.
New 2025 data released by Rilegno – the national consortium responsible for collecting and recycling wood packaging – shows a system that is becoming increasingly efficient, sustainable, and economically valuable. According to the latest figures, Italy recycled more than 67% of wood packaging placed on the market in 2024, while the broader recovery rate is now close to 70%.
