Italy’s tourism industry is moving through another strong year, increasingly powered by international travelers and a broader range of destinations. The latest 2026 figures suggest that the country is not simply attracting more visitors – it is also extending tourism beyond the traditional peak season and beyond its most famous cities.
Nearly 47 million arrivals and 148 million overnight stays were recorded in Italian accommodations during the second quarter of 2026. Overnight stays increased 3.9% compared with the same period in 2025, with international visitors accounting for 61.6% of the total.
