Italy’s port system closed 2025 with one of its strongest performances in recent years, confirming the growing strategic importance of the country’s maritime infrastructure within global trade routes.
According to the latest “Port Infographics 2026” report produced by Assoporti and SRM, Italian ports handled more than 510 million tons of cargo in 2025, a 3.5% increase compared to 2024. The expansion involved every major freight category, highlighting both the resilience and diversification of the sector.
