Europe is gearing up for a leap forward in the space sector – and Italy is at the center of it. With a €100 million investment, the country is building a state-of-the-art Space Smart Factory near Rome that will be capable of producing up to 100 satellites a year – about two per week.
The project represents one of the most ambitious steps in Europe’s effort to strengthen its role in the global space industry. The new facility is a partnership between the Italian Space Agency and Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture supported by Leonardo and France’s Thales.
