Italy’s mission in Washington strengthens foreign investment ties

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

The Ministry for Enterprises and Made in Italy wrapped up a successful foreign investment mission in Washington, bringing together a broad network of institutions, investors, and companies.

Over three days of meetings, panels, and workshops, more than 200 Italian and American businesses, investment funds, and regional representatives met to explore new opportunities for industrial and technological collaboration. The focus areas included space and marine technologies, life sciences, clean energy, agri-tech, and tourism.

By the end of the event, more than €4 billion in new investments for Italy had been announced – funds that will be distributed across several regions and sectors. This outcome reflects the growing international confidence in Italy’s industrial system and its evolving role within global value chains.

The initiative, led by the Ministry’s senior officials and supported by various national agencies and partners, demonstrated a well-coordinated “Team Italy” approach to promoting internationalization and attracting foreign capital. The program’s structure encouraged direct dialogue between institutions, entrepreneurs, and investors, highlighting Italy’s strengths in manufacturing, innovation, and sustainability.

Several American companies confirmed plans to expand operations or open new facilities in Italy, especially in life sciences, biotechnology, clean technology, and the space and blue economy. Italian regions such as Abruzzo, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Sicily, and Trentino presented their development and innovation strategies, engaging in direct discussions with U.S. economic development agencies from New Jersey, Ohio, North Carolina, and Virginia.

The Washington mission reinforced Italy’s image as a European hub for advanced industry and innovation – and as a strategic partner for transatlantic cooperation. Beyond the signed agreements, it strengthened the dialogue between governments, investment funds, and businesses, confirming that collaboration between Italy and the United States is not only thriving but expanding toward new frontiers of technology and sustainable growth.
