Italy’s transition toward a more sustainable economy is increasingly visible both on supermarket shelves and in long-term investment strategies. Two recent studies reveal the scale of this transformation, highlighting growing attention to environmental information on consumer products and the substantial economic benefits that energy efficiency could generate.
According to the 19th edition of the Osservatorio Immagino report by GS1 Italy, more than 128,000 food and nonfood products carried environmental claims on their packaging in 2025. These products generated over €53.4 billion in sales across Italian supermarkets, hypermarkets, and self-service stores.
