Italy’s Community Health Centers are at the heart of an ambitious effort to make health care more accessible, coordinated, and responsive to local needs. Supported by €2 billion from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the program aims to establish a nationwide network of modern facilities that can connect residents with health and social services close to home.
The centers are designed as recognizable community access points where people can receive primary care, nursing support, basic diagnostic tests, specialist consultations, preventive services, and assistance coordinating home care. They are expected to be particularly valuable for older adults, patients with chronic conditions, and families navigating multiple health and social services.
