The Italian food industry is zeroing in on the US market: the government, through the Special Plan for Made in Italy, is investing €50 million in a deal with US retailers.
"Last year we exported to the U.S. €3.5 billion with a growth around 20%," said the president of trade group Federalimentare Luigi Scordamaglia during the 4th Food&Made in Italy forum organized by the 24 Ore Group (publisher of ItalyEurope24). "It will be impossible to keep this growth pace in 2016, in the first quarter however we scored a very nice +4.5%."
