American enthusiasm for visiting Italy continues to grow, confirming the country's position as one of the most desirable international destinations in the U.S. market. The latest promotional events organized by ENIT in partnership with Signature Travel Network demonstrated that demand is not only strong for summer vacations but is already extending into 2027.
The initiative brought together hundreds of travel professionals across Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, and Chicago, where Italian destinations were presented to one of the most influential networks of luxury travel advisors in North America.
More than 350 business meetings and approximately 150 networking sessions were held during the three regional events, involving over 900 travel advisors and more than 2,000 agents, suppliers, and industry representatives overall. These events are part of a long-standing collaboration between ENIT and Signature Travel Network, one of the world's largest luxury travel organizations, representing more than 15,000 professional travel advisors, 431 U.S. retail locations, 176 international offices, nearly 8 million client profiles, and over $11 billion in annual travel sales.
Italy continues to lead travelers' wish lists thanks to its remarkable diversity of experiences. Sicily, Puglia, and Sardinia are among the fastest-growing destinations, supported by expanded nonstop air connections from New York. Other favorites include the Amalfi Coast, Portofino, Lake Garda, Tuscany, Lake Como, and the Dolomites, where interest is expected to increase further following the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
Travel preferences are also evolving. Advisors report rising demand for food and wine itineraries, opera-themed vacations, Mediterranean cruises, ancestry travel, milestone celebrations, and customized experiences for multigenerational families, independent travelers, and solo visitors. American guests are increasingly looking beyond traditional sightseeing in favor of immersive trips that connect them with local culture, regional cuisine, and authentic communities.
Length of stay is another encouraging indicator. Most American visitors now plan vacations lasting between 10 and 14 days, giving them more time to explore different regions rather than focusing on a single destination. At the same time, travel advisors are encouraging clients to consider spring, fall, and winter departures, helping spread tourism throughout the year while offering visitors a more relaxed experience away from peak-season crowds.
For Italy's tourism industry, these trends represent an important opportunity. The U.S. remains one of Italy's highest-value international markets, with travelers seeking premium accommodations, personalized services, cultural experiences, and extended itineraries. Through continued partnerships with organizations such as Signature Travel Network, Italy is strengthening its presence among American travel professionals, ensuring that interest translates into future bookings.
With summer 2026 already performing strongly and reservations beginning to build for 2027, the outlook remains highly positive. The combination of world-famous landmarks, emerging destinations, improved air connectivity, and authentic experiences continues to make Italy one of the most compelling international destinations for American travelers.
