Just a few short months ago Italy’s handling of the coronavirus was being touted as an example of what not to do. But now the country’s recovery is in full swing. Although Italy is still recording new infections every day, its citizens have learned to live with the virus in a new normal.
Italy’s worst day occurred on March 29 with 969 deaths in just 24 hours, while the rest of the world watched on in horror. It was an early warning sign of what could happen if the virus was allowed to get out of control. Vice President Mike Pence condemned the European country as being one “no one wanted to be like”.
