A team of Italian researchers has developed an advanced optical fiber probe capable of identifying and destroying solid tumors using light and heat, opening new possibilities for less invasive cancer treatments.
The project, led by scientists at the Italian National Research Council’s Institute of Applied Physics “Nello Carrara” (CNR-IFAC) in Sesto Fiorentino, represents another example of Italy’s growing role in photonics, nanotechnology, and biomedical innovation.
